(NYT42) WASHINGTONG -- Oct. 28, 2006 -- OBIT-AUERBACH -- Red Auerbach in his Washington DC office June 10, 2004. Auerbach, who built the Boston Celtics into one of the greatest dynasties in sports, presiding over 16 National Basketball Association championship teams as a coach, general manager and club president, died in the Washington area.
