Features:
SILK ROAD -- The Silk Road is the popular name for a system of caravan trade routes dating back 2,000 years, stretching roughly 7,000 miles from the Mediterranean to China's Yellow River Valley. Photographer Jehad Nga, on assignment for The New York Times, spent three weeks retracing part of this historic route in central Asia. Nga braved searing desert heat and a treacherous blizzard, but in the process discovered the unique people who make their lives along this starkly beautiful and often unwelcoming corridor.
